The wedding morning

Everything betweenwaking up and the dress.

Hair, makeup, brows and the crown, in one sitting and in one order. Below is what each part of the morning actually involves, and at the foot of the page, what it costs.

01

Hair

Waves, chignons, sculpted volume — set to hold all day

The hair is the decision the rest of the morning is built around, so it is the one we make first and the one we make together. Bring the dress, or a photograph of it, and bring the headpiece if you already have it — a neckline and a crown decide more about a hairstyle than any picture saved from the internet.

Deep waves, a low chignon, a sculpted cap, height at the crown: the shape is chosen for your hair and your face, not copied. It is then set to survive a long day, an embrace from everyone you know, and being photographed from every side of a room.

Makeup

Skin first, then a face that photographs the way it looks

Skin comes first and takes the longest — prepared, evened, and built in thin layers so it still looks like skin at the end of it. A bridal face has to work in three different lights on the same day: daylight for the photographs, warm light at the table, and a flash pointed straight at it.

Everything after that is yours to steer. A soft nude, a smoked eye, a graphic liner, a crimson lip — the work in the portfolio runs the whole range, and none of it is a house style you have to accept.

Brows and finishing

Shaping, threading and the last quiet twenty minutes

Brows are shaped and tidied before any colour goes near the face, because the shape of a brow changes the shape of an eye and there is no fixing that afterwards.

The last twenty minutes are the ones nobody photographs and everybody remembers: lashes on, lip set, a final pass in daylight by the window, and the dress going on without a single mark reaching it.

The crown and the veil

Fitting the tac, the headpiece and the veil so they stay put

A crown that is fitted at the end of the morning is a crown that moves all day. It is pinned into the hairstyle while the hairstyle is being built, which is the only way it holds — and the only way it sits at the angle it was chosen at.

Veils are the same: where it is anchored decides whether it can be lifted, turned in and danced in, or whether it has to be taken off after the ceremony. We settle that before it goes on, not after.

Nails

Shellac manicure and pedicure, and henna art if you want it

The bridal nail package is a shellac manicure and a shellac pedicure, with any design you like on either, and henna art if you want it — in black or in white.

It is booked for a different day from the wedding, and earlier than you think: hands are in more photographs on a wedding day than almost anything else.

06

Henna, engagement and nikah

The other three nights, styled the same way

The wedding is rarely the only night. The henna, the engagement and the nikah each want their own look, and each of them is a full styling — hair, makeup and the finishing — rather than a lighter version of the wedding one.

Most people book them as they come. If you already know all the dates, say so in one message and they can be held together.
